Weekly Update: I've been gone, but I'm back.

So, I haven't posted in a few weeks and for that I apologize, but with midterms and the United States Election, and then also with being sick I just didn't have the time or energy to dedicate to posting, SO I'm instead using my weekly update as a way to catch you guys up on what I've been doing and plans for the next few weeks as finals creep up and winter break comes.

Grace Hopper Celebration:

IT WAS AMAZING. I cannot stress this enough but I seriously recommend that you find a way to go to the next celebration in 2017 if you are at all interested in computer science. It was 15,o00 women in Houston for three days to come together to celebrate women in computing. I GOT TO MEET MEGAN SMITH (CTO of the White House)!!! I also got SO much swag and meet so many cool women with so many different companies. I also now have an internship lined up for the summer so it was a great networking experience overall! Check out my Instagram for photos!

Sick, and Gross but better now:

So I've spent the last month either fighting off getting sick OR actually being sick but I am better now and not in danger of coughing up a lung and/or dying from mucus. Vitamin C and Cold and Flu Tea are my best friends during this period of ill before finals.

The US Election:

I'm not gonna lie, I'm pretty upset about the outcome of the US Election, but I will continue to 1) fight for the rights of every American and non American on US soil or otherwise  2) Will always be here to talk to or to listen to if you are LGBTQ or POC  and 3) continue to do my best to represent women across all spectrums of the STEM fields.

I am not happy that my country has elected Donald to the office of the president with a republican congress BUT I will work with what I am given with to support and protect the rights of women.

Future Posts:

I am going to be writing a few more posts about finals, dealing with sexism at university with a teacher or another student, and a couple more things up my sleeves. Additionally, if you have ever faced racism as a Woman of Color and would like to write about your experiences dealing with it I would love to hear from you. I do not want to write a post about dealing with racism as a woman when I have never faced it.

Have a lovely week!
